Install Tor On Ununtu 9.04

There is no tor package available with the default Ununtu 9.04
repository configuration.

Google it then get one.

$ cat << EOF | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tor.sources.list
> deb http://mirror.noreply.org/pub/tor jaunty main
> deb-src http://mirror.noreply.org/pub/tor jaunty main
> EOF
deb http://mirror.noreply.org/pub/tor jaunty main
deb-src http://mirror.noreply.org/pub/tor jaunty main

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install tor

$ sudo vi /etc/privoxy/config

# forward-socks4a / 127.0.0.1:9050 .
=>
forward-socks4a / 127.0.0.1:9050 .

$ sudo /etc/init.d/privoxy restart

$ netstat -a | egrep -e '(8118|9050)'

tcp 0 0 localhost:8118 *:* LISTEN

tcp 0 0 localhost:9050 *:* LISTEN

OK. tor and privoxy are available now.

Then configure your browser to use proxy
localhost:8118

Done.
